How Sarah Is Cooking Began?

My food journey began online in 2020, during a season when life slowed down and home kitchens became the heart of our days. I started sharing my cooking and baking on Instagram as a creative outlet — a way to document recipes I loved and connect with others who found comfort in homemade food.

As more people began asking for the recipes, tips, and techniques behind what I was making, I realized I wanted a dedicated space to share full, detailed recipes in a way that truly helped home cooks succeed.

That’s how Sarah Is Cooking came to life — a place to move beyond quick social posts and create thoughtful, reliable recipe content that people could save, return to, and cook from with confidence.

My Cooking and Baking Experience

I’ve been cooking and baking for most of my life, and my love for the kitchen started early. As a child, I was fascinated by how simple ingredients could turn into something warm, comforting, and shared. That curiosity never left me.

Over the years, I’ve learned through hands-on experience — cooking everyday meals, baking for family, and experimenting until flavors, textures, and timing feel just right. I gravitate toward comfort food, cozy flavors, and recipes that don’t require fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients.

I’m not a professionally trained chef, but I am a dedicated home cook who values practical results. I understand what it’s like to cook in a real kitchen, with limited time and everyday ingredients, and that perspective shapes every recipe I share.

How My Recipes Are Created and Tested

Every recipe on Sarah Is Cooking is developed and tested in my own kitchen.

I don’t publish recipes I wouldn’t make again myself. Each dish is cooked, tasted, and adjusted with close attention to flavor, texture, and simplicity. If something feels unclear, overly complicated, or unreliable, I rework it until it feels approachable and repeatable.

  • When testing recipes, I focus on:
  • Clear, easy-to-follow instructions
  • Reasonable prep and cook times
  • Ingredient substitutions when possible
  • Results that match what’s described

For example, if a soup tastes flat, I’ll adjust seasoning in small increments and retest until the balance feels right. If a baked recipe finishes too quickly or too slowly, I’ll refine timing and temperature so home ovens get consistent results.

My family often tastes my recipes first, and their feedback helps me fine-tune seasoning, consistency, and overall balance. My goal is always the same: to help you get good results the first time you make a recipe.
